Description
I enlisted in the US Army at age 16 on 10 Nov 1948 and retired 30 June 1971. Served with the 3rd Inf Div in the Korean War Sep 1950 to and including Dec 1951. Was at the Chosen Reservoir from Nov to 24 Dec 1950. Suffered severe frostbite but not quite bad enough to lose a limb (feet are bad. 30% disability for each foot.) I'm not complaining because I can still walk. Served in Japan from 1953 thru 1956. Great duty. Served in Germany from 1957 thru 1960, Kaiserslautern and Frankfurt. Served with the 69th Signal Bn in Vietnam from Feb 1967 to March 1968. Lucky to have survived TET 68. Retired at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas 30 June 1971. After retiring from the Army I drove truck for Boise Cascade Paper Co, International Falls, Minnesota for over 18 years. Retired from the Paper Co in Sep 1989 and have been footloose and fancy free ever since. I have been working on finding my ancestors for the last 3 or 4 years. It's starting to get out of hand. So far I have found over 400 relatives, some as far back as the year 1710 and have almost 4,000 pages on my ancestry site. If I try to have it printed it would be one hell of a book.
